Summary

As a launch of my official personal brand as a professional graphic designer, I decided to launch a personal project basing a concept Esports brand off of my personal branding. The biggest goal was to create an Esports brand that resembled my personal aesthetics, but it was also important to create a brand identity that goes against many typical Esports brands.

Focusing on A Specific Angle

Frankenstein is a book I read for a school project and fell in love with. Author Merry Shelley’s themes and characters were mostly filled with dread and anger. This is when I realized I wanted to have those some emotions expressed through the characters in this brand.

Emotion

With the brand identity found, I needed to figure out how to express the concept through the emotion of the characters. All models I designed express anger, negative, or psychotic emotion. These emotions were also shown through Dr. Frankenstein and his creature.

Conclusion

Finalizing the last graphic of my Concept Esports Branding Project, I am proud of the work I created. The projects graphics all communicated the same message and expressed each character with the same intimidating emotion. Esports needs more brands that play the bad guys rather than the good ones. This project shows that Esports brands that take the more riskier approach of gothic text and lighting, rather than sans serif fonts and bright colours, can develop really unique looking brand identities.
